Embark on a journey through the illustrious history of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the city's largest opera house, boasting an impressive 1,859 seats. This cultural cornerstone first raised its curtains under the visionary leadership of Ignatz Waghalter on November 7, 1912, with the resounding notes of Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio.
But what truly sets this opera house apart is its legacy of premieres. It has been the birthplace of ground-breaking works by renowned composers like Henze, Reimann, and many others. With each new premiere, the Deutsche Oper Berlin continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression, making it an indispensable part of Berlin's vibrant cultural scene.
