Devid Striesow — Christmas Stories A Musical Reading at Konzerthaus Berlin
Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin — Großer Saal
About the Event
On the fourth Sunday of Advent, the distinguished actor Devid Striesow—winner of the German Film Award and the Grimme Prize—invites you to an evening full of contemplation, depth, and subtle humor. The award‐winning character actor sets the mood for Christmas with masterpieces of world literature. The reading is accompanied by the Leipzig Brass Soloists—composed of outstanding members of the MDR Symphony Orchestra and the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig.
Moving beyond common clichés, Devid Striesow has compiled a personal selection of his favorite Christmas stories. With his masterful interpretive skills, he brings these texts by great authors to life. The range extends from touching nostalgia to astute observations and tongue‐in‐cheek satire.
The evening’s literary program includes, among others: Peter Rosegger’s “When I Went to Fetch Christmas Joy,” James Krüss’s “Ladislaus and Annabella,” Martin Suter’s “Ignoring Christmas,” and Richard Brautigan’s “The Smallest Snowstorm Ever Recorded.”
The Leipzig Brass Soloists frame Striesow’s Christmas stories with the majestic radiance and subtle dynamics of their ensemble playing. They provide harmonious accents that perfectly capture and extend the mood of the texts.
Devid Striesow is one of the most versatile and distinguished German actors on stage and in film. After training at the renowned Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, he enjoyed great success at major theaters such as the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. He became known to a wide audience through cinematic hits such as the Oscar‐winning film *The Counterfeiters*, as well as through his charismatic role as Saarland‐based *Tatort* detective Jens Stellbrink, as General Friedrichs in *All Quiet on the Western Front*, and as Bach in *Bach—A Christmas Miracle*. For his acting achievements, Striesow has been honored with awards including the German Film Award and the Grimme Prize. In addition to his work in front of the camera, his great passion lies in the spoken word: as a sought‐after audiobook narrator and reciter, he captivates his audience with his extraordinary vocal versatility and his keen sense of nuance.
