The Lautten Compagney Berlin is one of the most renowned German Baroque ensembles. Performing on period instruments in different chamber orchestral formations that stretch through to the Baroque opera orchestra, their repertoire encompasses a wide spectrum, ranging from 17th cent. English dancing music, sacred music and operas by Handel to crossover projects serving as a bridge to modern dance (with Heike Henning & Co. dance company, Sasha Waltz & Guests, etc.) and 20th century music. With its concerts and operatic guest performances, the Lautten Compagney makes appearances throughout Germany and on international stages as well.

Wolfgang Katschner is not only Lautten Compagneys conductor and artistic director, but also a virtuoso lutenist and researcher of historic scores. In October 2010 the Lautten Compagney was awarded with the Echo Klassik Award (Early Music Ensemble of the Year) for its most recent CD “Timeless” – music by Tarquinio Merula and Philip Glass.
