Salle Gaveau
Paris, France
The Salle Gaveau was built in 1906/1907 and was immediately one of the most prestigious concert halls of Paris. Its focus lies on piano and chamber music concerts. The First World War did not interrupt the artistic activity at the Salle Gaveau — the hall hosted charity galas for soldiers and war victims. In 1963 the Salle Gaveau faced financial collapse and it wasn't until 1975 that it was acquired and revived by two musicians, Chantal and Jean‐Marie Fournier. The Salle Gaveau has hosted some of the most prestigious international musicians such as Montserrat Caballé, Jessye Norman, Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovitch and Martha Argerich.
