Jean‐Paul Gasparian: Salle Gaveau
Paris, Salle Gaveau — Main Hall
About the Event
With his impressive technique combined with profound sensitivity, Jean‐Paul Gasparian has established himself as one of the great interpreters of Chopin. Harnessing the full expressive power of the Romantic piano, he presents here a selection of his finest works: the Mazurkas, Op. 59, vibrant with folk‐inspired colors the famous Waltzes, Op. 64, combining grace and virtuosity and, of course, the flamboyant Polonaises, Op. 26 No. 1 and Op. 53.
The bel canto‐style melodies of the Franco‐Polish composer are juxtaposed with Franz Liszt’s spectacular opera paraphrases based on works by Giuseppe Verdi. From *Il Trovatore* to *Aida* via *Rigoletto*, the piano displays breathtaking virtuosity and dramatic intensity. A journey to the pinnacle of Romanticism that will allow Jean‐Paul Gasparian to make his keyboard sing in many different ways.
