Santa Maria della Pietà
Venice, Italy
S. Maria della Pietà, also known as the 'Church of Vivaldi,' is an eighteenth‐century church designed by G. Massari. The main attractions are the frescoes by Tiepolo that adorn the ceiling and the presbytery, where Antonio Vivaldi once worked and composed.
Since 1978, in honor of the third centenary of Antonio Vivaldi's birth, the Church of the Pietà has been reopened for concerts. Musical ensembles perform here while still preserving the sacred atmosphere of the church, offering programs dedicated to Vivaldi and other Baroque musicians from Venice and Europe.
