About the Event

Ten years ago, cellist Raphaela Gromes and pianist Julian Riem crossed paths at the Richard Strauss Competition in Munich. Since then, they have been performing together as a duo and achieving great success. Now, they are bringing their programme called "Femmes" to Dresden, which was recently released as a recording in February 2023. This program focuses on female composers from different periods of music history.

For their performances at the Sankt Afra State Music High School of Saxony and at the Palais im Großen Garten, Gromes and Riem will specifically highlight compositions from the 19th and 20th centuries. The works of Nadia Boulanger, Henriëtte Bosmans, Elisabeth Kuyper, Clara Schumann, and Pauline Viardot‐García will take center stage. These pieces offer a unique opportunity to explore and appreciate the music created by talented women.

This concert is a must‐hear for anyone interested in expanding their musical horizons and discovering more compositions by women. Gromes and Riem's skillful interpretations bring these works to life, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and artistry of these lesser‐known pieces. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the remarkable talents of these two musicians as they showcase the diverse and captivating compositions of female creators.
