Operetta
Operettas are a lighter alternative to traditional opera. In an opera most things are usually sung. In an operetta there is a lot of spoken dialogue, and songs and dances that are added to this. Operetta had its heyday in the late 19th century, beginning in Paris and spreading to Vienna and Berlin.
