Broadhurst Theatre
New York, USA
The Broadhurst Theater celebrated its centenary in 2017, marking 100 years of Broadway productions housed behind its low‐key facade. One of Herbert J. Krapp’s designs for the Shubert brothers, the Broadhurst has a star‐studded history, featuring many of the greatest names in show business.
Especially noteworthy among a long list of landmark moments are the first Broadway performance of a Gershwin brothers number in 1918, 1924’s ‘Dixie to Broadway’ – the first Broadway production with an all‐Black cast – and Agatha Christie’s 1944 arrival on Broadway. The Broadhurst was also the scene of Broadway’s greatest flop when ‘Kelly’ closed on opening night! The Broadhurst now houses the hit musical adaptation of ‘Anastasia’.
