Sláinte Mhath! January 25 marks the birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns, a day celebrated annually since 1801 with poetry and song. Ruckus and violin virtuoso Keir GoGwilt honor the legacy of Niel Gow (b. Perthshire, 1727‐1807), dubbed ‘the Scottish Corelli,’ in conjunction with the sonatas of his namesake. This lively folk‐Baroque performance intertwines Corelli’s sonatas with the exuberant, intense, and nostalgic melodies of Niel Gow. Ruckus and GoGwilt revive the 18th‐century practice of combining folk and art music for today’s audience.
