Astor Place Theater
New York, USA
Old World meets New at the Astor Place Theater. One of New York’s oldest surviving buildings, the Greek Revival‐style structure on Colonnade Row was originally home to the Astor and Vanderbilt families. Today, the imposing marble columns front one of the city’s most important Off‐Broadway venues.
With a history of introducing new playwrights to the city, and a series of important premieres by newcomers and established writers alike, Astor Place became home to the experimental Blue Man Group in 1991.
