Yang Yang & Shanghai Symphony Orchestra: Schubert

About the Event

Hear pieces by Karol Szymanowski, Qigang Chen and Franz Schubert played by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Yang Yang.

Chen's Wu Xing and Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 1 will open this evening's concert. The highlight will be Schubert's Symphony No. 9 which was nicknamed The Great, due to its importance for the composer who unfortunately did not have the chance to hear it played in full by an orchestra.

Practical Information

As Asia’s oldest orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra brought Western classical music to China. Today, it remains a world‐class orchestra which attracts internationally renowned artists while it still retains its Chinese essence: the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra is a beacon of culture and arts for the city of Shanghai.
