Winners' Concert: 2016 Francisco Viñas Competition

About the Event

Under the baton of Daniel Gil de Tejada, the awarded artists of the 54nd edition of the Francisco Viñas Competition perform in concert.

Founded in 1963 by Jacinto Vilardell in memory of Catalan tenor Francisco Viñas, this competition has become one of the most important world opera and lieder competitions, where every year young singers from all over the world participate.

In order to facilitate the participation and bring the competition closer to singers from other countries, the Gran Teatre del Liceu has come to an agreement with the opera houses in Madrid, Paris, London, Berlin, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Beijing, to share responsibility for the qualifying rounds.

The final round, and the final concert performed by the winners are usually held every January at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. However, as part of the collaboration between the Liceu and the Teatro Real, the winners concert takes place in Madrid.

Practical Information

Please note: In some areas of the Teatro Real, some seats have a partially obstructed view of the stage. Teatro Real recommends category B for the finest and completely unobstructed view of the performance.
