About the Event
TIEN, the vocal ensemble, founded in the mid‐1990s, comprises an average of sixteen singers who are passionate and ambitious. As trained amateurs, their goal is to achieve a high level of artistry. Through long‐term cooperation, they have developed a subtle timbre and harmonious balance. Notably, each program they present is conducted by a different leader, ensuring that various aspects of ensemble singing are explored and addressed. TIEN is celebrated for its transparent choral sound and captivating selection of songs.
In the spring of 2024, TIEN will showcase "Saudade," a program conducted by Francisca Pizarro. This program revolves around the unifying theme of the state of mind that the term "saudade" signifies: melancholy, homesickness, spleen, and Sehnsucht. The repertoire will feature compositions by distinguished Portuguese and Brazilian artists like Fernando Lopes‐Graça and Heitor Villa Lobos. Additionally, works from German Romanticism and other stylistic periods, where this theme is expressed with eloquence, will be included.
TIEN's artistic approach to a cappella singing has gained them recognition. Their commitment to excellence and their pursuit of diverse musical experiences make them a standout ensemble. With their clear choral sound and imaginative programming, they continue to captivate audiences.
Practical Information
