Utopia & Arnaud Van de Cauter: Palais des Beaux‐Arts

About the Event

Organist Arnaud Van de Cauter and vocal ensemble Utopia create music based on Bruegel’s masterful tableaus such as The Battle Between Carnival and Lent, The Tower of Babel, The Peasant Wedding, The Fall of the Rebel Angels and The Triumph of Death. They link these ornate tableaus to folk songs, organ suites and polyphonic works by the likes of Vivanco, Mareschal, Gabrieli, Lassus, Gombert and Crecquillon. These pieces add a new dimension to Bruegel’s masterpieces. Furthermore, this concert provides the perfect opportunity to encounter the music Bruegel might have heard.
