Tragic and realistic in its drama, Tosca is one of the most popular works in the history of opera, captivating audiences since 1900. Puccini's Romantic music is replete with unfettered emotion and passion.
Rome, 1800. Scarpia, the chief of police, has his headquarters at the Palazzo Farnese. Tosca kills Scarpia to save the life of her imprisoned beloved, Cavaradossi. But he is executed by firing squad regardless, and Tosca jumps to her death.
