The Sixth of Šostakovič
About the Event
Faced with a Russia wounded by the war against Hitler and the Stalinist regime, Šostakovič found himself forced to abandon the initial project dedicated to Lenin to compose a new, much more critical Symphony. Born in 1939, a crucial year in the history of the twentieth century, the Sixth gives us a restless and upsetting world, grotesque and tragic, which Šostakovič gives shape to with a deliberately disconnected and unbalanced language, almost as if to reflect a world now without head.
