Richard Wagner's opera "The Mastersingers of Nuremberg" will be performed at the Oper Leipzig this season.


Wagner's only comic opera tells the story of an idealistic dream to form a great community through art. In medieval Nuremberg, the knight Walther von Stolzing wants to marry Eva but first has win the prestigious singing competition. However, the young outsider has some rivals who are also interested in the young woman. The competition begins…
