About the Event
Lord Ollendorf, colonel in the occupant‐army in Krakow, plans his revenge on the young impoverished lady Laura because she refused his courting in public.
Therefore, he releases the young prisoner Symon with one condition that he must masquerade as a wealthy Prince and has to win Laura's hand, in order to refuse and humiliate her. But Symon and Laura fall in love with each other and Ollendorf''s plan seems to fail…
This popular operetta is conducted by Stefan Diederich, the new conductor of the Musikalische Komödie, and celebrates its 125. jubilee in December 2007. The Beggars Student has many famous highlights: in this production under the direction of Christian Georg Fuchs, the ensemble of the Musikalische Komödie Leipzig will perform one of the most entertaining operettas in the world.
