Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Grubinger, Robertson: Philharmonie Berlin

About the Event

In Europe, one does not have the opportunity to experience the biggest orchestra from the other side of the world too often. This autumn the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will also stop in Berlin under its principal conductor, the Californian David Robertson, during its two‐week European tour.

The musicians have chosen an exciting programme for this. And an instrumental soloist known for spectacular performances. In recent years, the multi‐percussionist Martin Grubinger has ensured that the percussion in the concert hall in its entire variety has caught the public's eye even more. In the Berliner Philharmonie he will perform the stirring solo part in the second concerto for percussion and orchestra of the Scotsman James MacMillan. This breathtaking piece is framed by Dvořáks 'Karneval' — Concert Overture and Beethoven's 7th Symphony.
