About the Event

In this romantically picturesque evening with the Filharmonie Brno, conducted by Dennis Russell Davies, the beautiful sounds of music from Bohemia's groves and meadows fill the air. The symphonic poem "Vyšehrad," from Bedřich Smetana's cycle "My Fatherland," takes us on a journey through the Bohemian landscape along the Vltava River. It not only celebrates the natural beauty of the region but also delves into its rich history and legends, as seen in the movements "Tábor" and "Blaník," which act as a national manifesto. Adding to the Slavic passion of the evening, young cellist Julia Hagen captivates the audience with her performance of Antonín Dvořák's scenic "Waldesruhe" and the brilliant Rococo Variations by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
