Originally built in 1742, Peter Faneuil’s building was designed to serve Bostonians as a market place and as a venue for ideas. The building was expanded and redesigned by Charles Bulfinch in 1805. Classical concerts have been enjoyed in Faneuil Hall since 1980 when the Boston Classical Orchestra made its successful debut. The Boston Classical Orchestra continues to delight audiences with performances of music from the time when Faneuil Hall was a platform for the ideals of colonial America and the activism of Samuel Adams, Daniel Webster, and Susan B.
