The Bavarian State Opera in Munich is one of the most renowned opera institutions in the world and looks back on an impressive tradition. The company was founded in 1653 under Princess Henriette Adelaide of Savoy. Today, the Bavarian State Opera, together with the Bavarian State Ballet, offers nearly 350 performances a year. The performances are presented in the National Theatre of Munich at the Max‐Joseph‐Platz, in the Prinzregententheater, or the Cuvilliés Theater.
