So Russian ! Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev
About the Event
Stephanie‐Marie Degand and Christie Julien are high‐flying virtuosos and seize these scores with an incomparable élan, demonstrating in Tchaikovsky that they are equally at their business in a lighter but just as exciting romanticism.
Few composers of the 20th century presented such a complex personality as Sergei Prokofiev, a true Janus with two faces: the Violin Sonata No. 1 subjugated by its alternation of sonorous power and moments of gentleness, while the Sonata No. 2 unfolds in a classicism of energy, yet typical of its author.
