Revel in a trio of twentieth century masterworks, as Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the San Francisco Symphony in Cage and Bartók. Acclaimed cellist Gautier Capuçon joins the orchestra for Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto.

Sardonic and irreverent on the surface, Shostakovich's Concerto conceals a deeply melancholy core. Cage's 'The Seasons' is one of the composer's most refined scores, its coloration so subtle as to be almost illusive. In contrast, Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra is a vibrant, energetic powerhouse, demanding virtuosity from each section.
