Traditional Russian folk music underlies the symphonic works on this program at Carnegie Hall. Mikhail Pletnev leads the Russian National Orchestra in Borodin's "In the Steppes of Central Asia" and Stravinsky's "The Firebird", both based on folk songs.

Young violinist Stefan Jackiw brings his incomparable technique and emotional maturity to Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2.
