Quartetto Vanvitelli: The Ancient and the New at Bologna Festival

About the Event

In this highly‐anticipated concert, hear classical music at Bologna's atmospheric Oratorio di San Filippo Neri.

In a very short span of time, the Vanvitelli Quartet, born in 2017, has managed to gain a strong and precise identity. Firstly, thanks to the originality of the formation that brings together violin, harpsichord, archlute and cello. And secondly through a very careful choice of repertoire that prefers composers of the Neapolitan school active and renowned in 18th‐century Europe. After focusing its attention on Michele Mascitti, a violinist from Chieti who became celebrated in Paris, the Quartet turned its attention to the rediscovery of Giuseppe Agus, a Sardinian violinist of Neapolitan training who lived for many years between London and Paris.
