Relish the chance to discover lesser‐known works in the classical canon. Benjamin Britten's early 'Simple Symphony' and the oboe concerto of an almost‐forgotten Classical‐era composer, Antonio Cartellieri receive a rare performance in Milan's Teatro dal Verme.

Honoring their tradition of showcasing stars in the making, the Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali plays under the baton of Tao Fan, a protègé of Esa‐Pekka Salonen and prize winner at numerous competitions. Beethoven's deceptively‐lighthearted Eighth Symphony provides an excellent demonstration of the young Chinese conductor's skills.
