Pay tribute to Beethoven with Jan Willem de Vriend and the Konzerthausorchester as they play the works of the master's student Ferdinand Ries, and emulator, Franz Schubert.

Acclaimed pianist Paul Lewis plays the 'Emperor' concerto to conclude the concert, but Schubert's First Symphony, written at the tender age of 16, and Ries' overture for 'The Bride of Messina' amply demonstrate the influence of Beethoven over an entire generation of musicians.
