Julien Chauvin conducts Le Concert de la Loge and the Chœur Fiat Cantus in a concert version of Mozart's famous singspiel opera, 'The Abduction from the Seraglio'.
'Die Entführung aus dem Serail' (The Abduction from the Seraglio) premiered in 1782 in Vienna. It is a work that demonstrates all the composer's spontaneity and youth, while still benefitting from his mastery and maturity. With a succession of comic situations in the kingdom of Pasha Selim, in an exotic imaginary land, the opera nevertheless also deals with deep and emotional questions concerning social relationship and what it is to be a stranger.
