Mozart's Requiem: Gran Teatre del Liceu

About the Event

Enjoy a moment of repose as top soloists from the Liceu sing Mozart's iconic Requiem. Josep Pons conducts the timeless masterpiece, which is complemented by the 'Music for a Masonic Funeral' and Piano Concerto No. 23, played by the young Catalan, Ignasi Cambra.

Incomplete at the time of Mozart's death, the mass was commissioned by an aristocratic patron, but Mozart became convinced that the work would be his own Requiem. The master's pupil, Franz Xaver Süssmayr, completed the work to Mozart's instructions, and the Requiem has become one of the most beloved and recognisable classical compositions of all time.
