Mihaud, Prokofiev, Mussorgsky: Dmitrij Kitajenko & Konzerthausorchester Berlin

About the Event

Mihaud's "La création du monde" is a ballet based on African folk mythology, with a libretto describing the traditional conception of the creation of the world. The composer completed the work with some elements of jazz after visiting New York in the 1920s.

The Konzerthausorchester Berlin will also perform Prokofiev's Symphony No. 7. This piece was written not long before the composer's death, and almost the entirety of it has a melancholic, nostalgic mood, excepting the optimistic, energetic coda. The final work on the program is Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition", arranged for orchestra by Ravel.
