Take a journey through the world of Mahler with one of the world's greatest Lied interpreters. Acclaimed worldwide for his interpretation of the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen Goerne is joined by the outstanding Dresden Staatskapelle, who add to the Mahlerian atmosphere with their historic connections to the composer, and their rendition of the symphonic poem Totenfeier, later to become the first movement of the almighty 'Resurrection' symphony. Completing the evening's program, Schumann's Second Symphony demonstrates the roots Mahler built on.
