Liszt & Friends chamber music festival: Concerto del Duo

About the Event

Explore the magnificent architecture of Rome's Sant'Agnese in Agone during a captivating chamber concert that will enhance your appreciation for chamber music.

The program includes compositions that, although of different stylistic matrix, are united by the rejection of certain technical‐academic 'experimentalism' and the search for a language that always puts before (even in the presence of expressive means not exclusively linked to the most widespread tradition) communicative immediacy. Here then, starting with Debussy's Rhapsody (a formidable example of impressionist art with its predilection for instrumental 'colors'), the pages of Rota's celebrated soundtracks are linked with works by Englishmen of the caliber of Arnold and Templeton, who were also fruitful creators of soundtracks for the cinema. Also unmissable is the space for the American repertoire, which with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (multicolored New York fantasy and musical kaleidoscope) offers what was most representative of the American culture of the early twentieth century, and dutiful, on the occasion of 'its' centenary) the presence of Astor Piazzolla, who with the (tango)Seasons was a symbol of the fusion of 'high' and popular culture that the twentieth century itself brings to fruition.
