La Serenissima: Jordi Savall and Hespèrion XXI at Carnegie Hall

About the Event

Embark on a voyage across a 1,000 year old soundscape Jordi Savall draws together the ensembles he has created and inspired, together with musicians from a diverse range of traditions, to create an aural portrait of the Venetian Republic.

Adding to the music of Cavalli, Monteverdi, Vivaldi and Willaerts, the sounds of the Orthodox‐Byzantine Vocal Ensemble and expert musicians on the Oud, Morisca, Qañun, Belul, Duduk and Santur combine to include the flavors of Persia, the Ottoman and Byzantine Empires with the sounds of the Mediterranean Rim and those of La Serenissima herself. A celebration of innovation, inspiration and musical splendors, with the combined forces of Hespèrion XXI, Le Concert des Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya to add to these invited guests.
