Delight in César Franck's hybrid 'Symphonic variations' — neither piano concerto nor purely symphonic work it demands the expertise of a pianist such as Francesco Piemontesi, and the sympathetic conducting of a maestro such as Emmanuel Krivine.

Offering Franck alongside works by Strauss and Debussy, in honour of the latter's centenary, the Orchestre national de France returns to Aix and the Grand Théatre de Provence.
