About the Event

Seong‐Jin Cho, the well‐known South Korean pianist, is no stranger to this venue. Following his victory at the prestigious Warsaw Chopin Competition, he made a last‐minute appearance here, stepping in for an ill colleague. Not only did he impress with his exceptional talent, but he also brought along numerous fans from Korea. Cho possesses a unique tone that is unmistakable – a delicate radiance with a robust core, making him the perfect interpreter for Beethoven's concertos. During this performance, Cho will treat us to two of these masterpieces: the emotionally lyrical Fourth Concerto and the exuberant Fifth Concerto, also known as the "Emperor Concerto." Interestingly, the fourth concerto features the ancient mythical character, Orpheus, as an integral part of the narrative.

  • Ludwig van Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, op. 58
  • Franz Schubert – Sinfonie h‐Moll D 759 („Unvollendete“)
  • Ludwig van Beethoven – Klavierkonzert Nr. 5 Es‐Dur op. 73
