Italian Style: Corelli, Tartini, Vivaldi, Händel at Théâtre Grévin

About the Event

An exceptional virtuoso, Josef Žák will make his bow sing, capturing all the Italian sun. At his side, Stéphane Fuget will be no less eloquent, a true alter ego of the violinist.

At the same time as opera, Baroque Italy invented the sonata, giving the violin an exceptionally rich literature. Corelli with his Sonatas Op. 5 showed the voice, while a little later, Tartini, with the vast collection entitled L'arte dell'arco (fifty variations written from a theme of Corelli's Sonata Op. 5 No. 10) brilliantly set the tone. Outside Italy, composers such as Leclair in France and Händel in England contributed masterfully to the development of the Italian sonata.

Works by Corelli, Tartini, Vivaldi, Leclair & Händel.
