About the Event

Italy has captured the minds and hearts of many composers.  Massimo Zanetti conducts a programme of both Italian music and music indebted to Italy's long and illustrious musical traditions.

Through the centuries Italy has been an artist's land. Especially the pilgrimage to classical Roman and Greek artifacts influenced a whole generation in the 19th century and became a standard for the classical education. Italy has long been a centre for European classical music, and by the beginning of the 20th century, Italian classical music had forged a distinct national sound that was decidedly Romantic and melodic.
