Hommage to Castrati: Baroque Music in Paris
About the Event
Exceptional recital of the countertenor Mathieu Salama around the greatest composers of Baroque music. A delicious musical journey out of time in an intimate atmosphere.
A musical journey through time!
The Castrati, with their particular tessitura, have marked the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries by the purity and the limpidity of their voice timbre.
Few artists today are capable of bewitching you like a 'Farinelli' if it is not Mathieu Salama, this lyric sopranist counter‐tenor with a voice so particular, so different and with inflections sometimes childish or even strange he will revive the repertory of arias, sacred arias and opera arias, composed for the great castrati by Handel, Caccini, Vivaldi, Caldara, Porpora, but also Bach or Purcell.
Accompanied by a chamber music ensemble.

I always try to find a different type of concert experience for when I come to Paris and this one was wonderful. The music was beautiful as was the singing and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
