Even though his official tenure as the Music Director of the Tonkunstler does not begin until the 25‐26 season, the Parisian conductor Fabien Gabel is already immersing the orchestra in the distinct stylistic elements of French music. One striking example of this is their performance of Paul Dukas's symphonic poem, "L'apprenti sorcier," inspired by Goethe's famous ballad "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." Gabel's approach embraces international artistic connections, demonstrating how different traditions can enrich each other.

Another remarkable piece showcased by Gabel and the Tonkunstler is Maurice Ravel's "Tzigane," featuring virtuoso violinist Renaud Capuçon. Violin:	Renaud Capuçon A musician’s musician with a rare, virtuosic touch and a range that runs the gamut from impassioned to finely sensitive, Renaud Capuçon is one of today’s most sought after violinists. Born in Chambéry, France, Capuçon began his musical training at the age of 14 after enrolling at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris before moving to Germany to complete his studies under the direction of Thomas Brandis and Isaac Stern. Touring regularly as a recitalist, Capuçon is especially well known for his brilliant interpretations and recordings of Beethoven’s violin sonatas as well as collaborations with his brother, cellist Gautier Capuçon.
