Grafenegg Festival: Bayreuther Festspielorchester, Pablo Heras‐Casado
About the Event
The story unfolds in 1876 when Richard Wagner debuted his masterpiece, the renowned "Ring of the Nibelung," at the newly constructed Bayreuth Festival Theatre. Even then, a carefully selected orchestra played in the specially designed covered pit, known as the "mystical abyss." Fast forward to 1886, and the tradition of assembling the Festival Orchestra from accomplished musicians of various orchestras began, a tradition that continues to this day. With approximately 200 musicians from esteemed orchestras in Germany and abroad, the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra is a force to be reckoned with. Many of these musicians have dedicated years of their lives to being part of this prestigious ensemble. These pre‐conditions set the stage for a truly remarkable Bayreuth guest performance under the skilled direction of Pablo Heras‐Casado. This performance promises to bring the enchanting magic of the "Green Hill" to Grafenegg, featuring captivating excerpts from the enthralling "Ring" cycle.
