Freiburger Barockorchester: Händel at Philharmonie
About the Event
The Freiburger Barockorchester, the Zürcher Sing Akademie and outstanding soloists will perform Händel's »Israel in Egypt« under the baton of René Jacobs at the prestigious Philharmonie Berlin.
Handel's oratorio 'Israel in Egypt' can be called a 'baroque blockbuster' without exaggeration. Handel's setting of the Old Testament account of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt could not be more vivid. At the latest when the famous plagues are thematized, it becomes clear why Handel is considered one of the best dramatists of all time. One does not even need the oratorio text to know exactly what the music is about.
