Ernest Chausson, The Legend of Saint Cecilia at Notre‐Dame de Paris

About the Event

Emilie Fleury and Sébastien Billard conduct the children's choir of the Maîtrise Notre‐Dame de Paris and the Orchestre de l’Armée française in a performance of Ernest Chausson's 'Legend of Saint Cecilia'.

Saint Cecilia, the patroness of musicians, is celebrated on November 22nd. Composed in 1891, Chausson's, La légende de Sainte‐Cécile (The Legend of Saint Cecilia) is reminiscent of the Impressionist music of Debussy, with its light orchestration of stings with célesta and harp. Saint‐Saëns' prelude to Le Déluge (The Flood), André Caplet's Septuor and Panis angelicus and Lili Boulanger's Pie Jesu will also be on the program of this evening.
