Michael Schonwandt leads a performance of Elgar's magnificent oratorio, 'The Dream of Gerontius', performed by the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Wiener Singverein, and renowned soloists.

'The Dream of Gerontius' is one of the most popular oratorios in the United Kingdom, together with Händel's 'Messiah' and Mendelssohn's 'Elijah'. Elgar himself saw the oratorio, which is based on a poem by Cardinal John Henry Newman, as his magnum opus.
