About the Event
Experience the mesmerizing beauty of Dresden's magnificent Schloss Pillnitz and indulge in an unforgettable concert that will deepen your appreciation for classical music. The city of Dresden, renowned for its unique charm, emanates a special blue light that harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding architecture and natural landscape. At Pillnitz Palace, a site gifted by Augustus the Strong to his mistress Anna Constantia von Cosel in 1706, one can witness the captivating symphony of the sky above. It is here, in front of the Wasserpalais, that the Kruzianer annually enthrall the crowd with a diverse repertoire that encompasses classical melodies, beloved folk tunes, and contemporary arrangements during the music festival. This cherished tradition, upheld by the esteemed Kreuzchor, an institution that has significantly influenced Dresden's cultural scene for over eight centuries, warmly welcomes you to bask in the countryside's enchanting ambiance on Whit Sunday and relish in the ethereal harmony created by the angelic voices of the boys' choir.

Choir: | Dresdner Kreuzchor The history of the Dresdner Kreuzchor (Choir of the Church of the Holy Cross) spans well over seven hundred years. Founded as a Latin grammar school at the “capella sanctae crucis”, today known as the Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross), the choir has been instrumental in preserving to the present day the medieval tradition of choral liturgy sung by boys' choirs. Being the oldest artistic institution still to be funded by the city, the choir is an essential part of the city's identity. |
