About the Event

Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Vienna's breathtaking Peterskirche for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of opera.

The international career of Japanese pianist Yasuyo Segawa was determined by an extraordinary fate. At the age of 17, she lost the functions of her right hand due to focal dystonia. But her great talent and strong will prevailed: She concentrated on playing the piano with her left hand and won 12 international awards as a result. In fact, there are numerous works composed or arranged in this way.

Her impressive virtuosity and the orchestral sound make you forget that she 'only' plays with one hand. A fascinating, unforgettable experience for the listener.

Established as Austria's smallest opera and classical theater, the performances in the crypt are captivating due to their intensity and high quality. Located deep beneath Vienna's St. Peter's Church, the intimate hall offers a personal experience like no other theater.

The temperature in the Krypta is pleasant at any time of year.

Excerpt from the program:

Vincenzo Bellini / A. Fumagalli — Casta Diva from the opera 'Norma'
Gaetano Donizetti / T. Leschetizky — Andante Finale from the opera 'Lucia di Lammermoor'
K. Mitsunaga — Samurai
