Théâtre des Champs-Élysées
Paris, France
Since its opening in the year 1913, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées belongs to the concert and opera venues which are recognized world‐wide. For more than ninety years, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées has hosted performances by some of the most prestigious artists in the history of music, opera and dance.
A Gabriel Astruc‐project, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées was built in 1913 by the Perret Brothers. Sculptor Antoine Bourdelle and painter Maurice Denis contributed to the theater's magnificent interior. The inauguration of the theater, however, is best remembered for its 'scandalous' production of Stravinsky's 'Sacre du Printemps' with Nijinsky.
