__Bizet's wildly popular opera portrays violent ssion under a blazing Spanish sun. The Paris Opera presents Calixto Bieito's new staging of 'Carmen', with a star‐studded cast and Stéphanie d'Oustrac and Victoria Karkacheva in the title role.
The story of Carmen sets the ideal of the free‐spirited and rebellious love against the shadow of destructive obsession. Replete with memorable arias, Bizet's masterpiece is the most performed opera in the repertoire.
