LMU Munich
Munich, Germany
The Grand Auditorium of the Ludwig‐Maximilian University in Munich was built as part of the main university building in 1840, according to a design by Friedrich von Gärtner. The hall was largely undamaged during the Second World War, and it was one of the few large spaces that were in functioning order in the post war period. For this reason, the first post war concerts were held in the Grand Auditorium.
